Child Soldiers miss out on education. If they miss out on too much education, they will be too old to catch up on the schooling they have missed. If they have no education, they will not have good job and will not be given a chance to be successful. If they have a poor paying job, this will lead to poverty. Poverty will lead to homelessness and famine and eventually, death. Even if they survive their life as a child soldier, they will most likely not survive their life out of the battlefield. Also, those children who survive are either permanently disabled or suffer from serious psychological trauma making it nearly impossible to obtain a decently paid job and are sure to fall into poverty. |
Although children are still being used in armed conflicts, the amount of countries using them have dramatically decreased in the last 4 years, due to the Great African War ending. During this war, a whopping 27 countries were using child soldiers, but now, it has decreased to 17. Although it has decreased a lot, many organisations believe that this is still too much and are working hard to bring the number down such as Child Soldiers International, War Child and many others. Many Children are kidnapped and forced to join by members but others join to escape poverty thinking that they will be given better living conditions, join to protect their communities or for other reasons. |
